Marble Wall Lights
A marble wall light puts a slab of veined stone between the bulb and the wall, so the glow comes out soft at the edges and a little darker where the stone is thick. This page gathers the wall lights and sconces with marble in their name: 27 of them, from small round shades to long rectangles and a staircase set that runs from one light to three.
Choosing a marble sconce by finish and colour
The stone is only half the look; the metal around it sets the mood. Gold appears on eight of these, as a colour option or in the name, black on ten, and copper turns up in three titles. Two designs, the Eterna Stone Nordic Modern Marble Wall Light and the Aurora Slab Modern Nordic Marble Wall Light, sell the stone itself in white, black, green, red or beige, so you choose the marble as well as the fitting. Thirteen have Nordic in the name, and two are named for Spanish marble.
Where a marble wall light earns its place
Beside a bed it works as a reading light that also reads as a small sculpture. Mount it where the stone lands near eye level once you are propped up with a book, roughly 75-90 cm over the mattress, and use a warm 2700K bulb so the marble looks creamy instead of grey; the colour temperature guide compares 2700K with the cooler options. On a landing or in a hall, a pair either side of a mirror gives the wall a steady rhythm, and staircase lighting ideas give the heights for stairs. Seven list an integrated LED, so the light and the fitting age together; the others say LED or take a bulb, and the product page states which. Marble is heavy, so read the fixing details before you plan the wall.
For marble on the ceiling and overhead, browse the wider marble lighting range, and for stone that glows right through, alabaster lighting does that better. Every wall fixture in the store sits under wall lighting.
FAQ
Does marble let the light through? Mostly it does not. Thick marble holds the light back, so it spills around the stone and up and down the wall instead of passing through. Alabaster is the stone to pick if you want a glow that comes through the shade.
How big are marble wall lights? Compact shades start around 8-12 cm across and the long designs reach 60 cm, such as the Callisto Spanish Marble Copper Modern Minimalist Wall Lamp, which comes in 30, 40, 50 and 60 cm. A bedside pair works best at the small end.
Is marble the same as alabaster or travertine? No. They are three different stones: marble is veined and cool, alabaster is soft and translucent, and travertine is pitted and warm. We sell all three, and travertine lighting has the warmer one.
Is a marble wall light safe in a bathroom? Only when the product page lists a water rating for it; otherwise keep it out of the splash zone. Our bathroom wall lights list the ratings.
