Read the colour name before you trust the photo. Twelve listings say plain Beige. Where beige pendant lights work best
Beige is the colour that disappears when you want it to. Over a dining table in a room of oak, linen and plaster, a beige shade reads as part of the room rather than an object hung in it. That makes it the safe choice in open-plan spaces, where one pendant is seen from the kitchen, the table and the sofa at once. In a white room it adds a little warmth; next to dark wood it lifts. Size the shade to the table rather than the room: about half to two-thirds of the table width is a good start, and the pendant size guide has the numbers. Keep the bulb warm, around 2700K, so beige stays sandy instead of turning grey.

FAQ
Is beige the same as cream or white? No. Beige has a yellow-brown warmth that cream and white do not, which is why it sits so easily with wood and stone. Several of these are also sold in white, so you can compare the two on the colour selector.
Does a beige shade change the colour of the light? A little, when the light passes through it: a fabric-like shade warms it slightly. A solid shade that points the light downward leaves it the colour of the bulb. Either way, a warm white bulb keeps the effect soft.
Can beige pendants hang over a kitchen island? Yes. Use two or three in a row, spaced evenly, with the bottom of each shade about 75-90 cm (30-36 inches) above the counter.
Are beige pendant lights dimmable? Some are. Several dim with a dimmable bulb and a compatible switch, the Lunara can be ordered with stepless dimming, and the Aurora of Stillness is listed as non-dimmable. The specification list on each product page says which.
