Hallway
- Mount the center 60–66 in (152–168 cm) from the floor, roughly eye level.
- Space multiples 6–8 ft (1.8–2.4 m) apart along the wall.
Vanity
- Put one on each side of the mirror instead of overhead. Side light kills face shadows.
- Centers 36–40 in (91–102 cm) apart, about 60–65 in (152–165 cm) from the floor.
Bedside
- Center the sconce 30–36 in (76–91 cm) above the top of the mattress.
- Keep the switch within arm's reach, so you never sit up to turn it off.
Outdoor
