Dining Room Chandeliers
The dining chandelier is the one fixture guests actually look at. It wants to sit low enough to belong to the table and read as one deliberate shape. These are our chandeliers suited to dining rooms, from sculptural stone and blown glass to quiet metalwork, with a few single woven and glass pendants for smaller tables. Round table or long table
Choose the shape of the fixture from the shape of the table. A round or square table takes one round chandelier, centred over the table rather than the room, about half to two-thirds as wide as the table: a 100 cm (40 in) table wants roughly 50-70 cm (20-27 in) across. The Amoslo black and brass chandelier comes in 75, 95 and 105 cm for the larger rounds. A long rectangular table needs length instead of width, because a single disc leaves both ends dark. Look for a linear piece around a third to a half of the table's length, such as the wooden linear pendant in lengths from 80 to 180 cm, or the Nordic Branches at up to 178 cm.
How low to hang it
Leave 75-90 cm (30-36 in) between the table top and the bottom of the fixture under a 2.4 m (8 ft) ceiling, and add about 8 cm (3 in) for every extra 30 cm (1 ft) of ceiling height. Sit down before you fix the height: nobody across the table should be looking through the glass. Which material flatters a dinner table
Warm, diffused light is kinder to food and faces than bare sparkle. Alabaster, such as the Elba Horizon, and frosted or opal glass glow evenly; clear crystal looks its best on a dimmer, turned down once the meal starts. Delivery is 6-9 business days.
