Boho lighting is about texture and warmth: woven shades, natural fibres, shapes that feel made by hand. These fixtures throw patterned shadows and soften a room without trying too hard.
Woven and rattan shades do not just soften light, they redraw it — the weave throws a pattern across the ceiling and the walls, which is most of the appeal and worth planning for. Give the fixture a surface to cast onto: a plain ceiling, a bare wall behind a bed. And keep the bulb inside soft, because a bright cool bulb behind an open weave gives you glare and hard shadow instead of texture.

Boho rattan ceiling lights and pendants
More than half of this range is pendants: rattan, bamboo, jute and rope shades, from a small 25 cm dome up to woven shades a full metre across. The weave decides what the light does. A tight, closed weave behaves like a solid shade and sends the light down onto a table; an open or double-layer weave lets it escape sideways, and that is where the patterned shadow on the ceiling comes from. Rattan and bamboo read warm and golden, jute and hemp rope softer and more matt. A few pieces in ceramic, paper and travertine sit here too, for the same natural texture in a firmer material.
Sizing a rattan boho pendant
Woven shades look smaller in a room than they do on screen, because light passes through them instead of bouncing off a solid surface. Over a dining table, a 50-60 cm shade suits a table for four to six; over a bed or in a hallway, 35-40 cm is usually enough. The largest pieces, at 80 and 100 cm, are for a living room or a high ceiling where the shade is meant to be the main event. FAQ
What bulb should go in a rattan or bamboo shade? An LED, in warm white around 2700K. An LED runs much cooler than an old filament bulb, which is the sensible choice inside a natural-fibre shade, and the warm colour keeps the weave looking golden rather than grey. Check the maximum wattage on the product page, and see which colour temperature to run for the difference between 2700K and 4000K.
Can boho lighting go outside? Two pieces here are made for it: the Radiance of the Wanderer floor light, rated IP65, and the boho solar garden lamp. The rattan and rope pendants are indoor fittings and should stay out of the weather.
What is the difference between boho and japandi lighting? Both lean on natural materials, but boho is looser and more layered: open weaves, visible pattern, several textures in one room. Japandi is quieter, with tighter shapes, plainer wood and paper, and fewer pieces. A single rattan pendant over a pale table can sit in either.
