Glass Pendant Lights
Glass shapes light without hiding it. Opal softens and spreads it, seeded glass catches it, clear glass shows the bulb. These pendants hang well over an island, a table, or a run of counter.
Which glass depends on where it hangs. Over a kitchen island or a desk you want opal or frosted — it spreads the light and keeps the bulb out of your eyes while you work. Over a dining table, where you sit below the fixture rather than under it, clear or seeded glass earns its keep and the filament becomes part of the room; if the table is long enough to want several shades from one canopy, the modern glass chandeliers do that in a single fitting. Hang a single pendant so the bottom sits roughly 75–90 cm above the surface, and if you are running a row, space them evenly and centre them on the counter rather than the ceiling.
